Windows 비스타가 강력한 검색 기능을 탑재하고 있지만 사실 배우기(Mr.Learn)처럼 귀차니즘에 빠진 사용자들에게는 검색어와 더불어 몇 자 더 타이핑을 해야 하는 고급 검색 기능은 사실 부담스러운 일 중에 하나이다. 그런데 Windows 7 익스플로러의 검색 표시줄(검색 상자, search box)에는 직접 고급 검색 옵션을 입력하지 않아도 마우스만으로 고급 검색 옵션을 실행할 수 있는 편리한 팝업 메뉴가 추가되었으며, 더불어 인간적인 간이 자연어(?) 사용이 가능하다.

레지스트리 최적화니 어쩌니 해도 Windows의 성능에 영향을 주는 것은 역시 GUI라는 껍데기이다. 에어로 기능을 쓰지 않고 표준 윈도(Standard Window)를 쓰자니 제맛이 나지 않을 경우 성능 옵션에서 최소화 옵션 또는 사용자 정의로 설정을 하면 좋을 것이다. 이전에 비스타에서도 에어로 글래스가 실행되기 위한 시각효과의 최소 옵션들 과 유사하지만, 디스플레이 설정 부문에서 비스타와 Windows 7이 차이가 나서 약간은 혼란스럽다.

이전 Windows의 작업 표시줄의 문제점은 무엇이었을까? 곰곰히 생각해 보았지만 별달리 문제가 있는 것은 아니였다. 그럼에도 Windows 7의 작업 표시줄이 달라진 것은 바로 터치(Touch) 기능을 고려해서 변화를 준 것이라는 생각이 들었다. 성능 옵션에서 기본적인 비쥬얼 효과 기능을 비활성화 하지 않는 이상 터치 기능이 아닌 마우스만으로도 작업 표시줄에 활성화된 프로그램을 클릭하면 마치 물결 출렁이듯 한 효과를 볼 수 있다. 작업 표시줄이야 누구나 쉽게 파악할 수 있므로 자세한 설명이야 필요가 없겠지만 아직 Windows 7 베타를 접하지 않은 사용자들에게는 간접적인 경험이 될 수 있도록 변화 내지는 진화된 기능을 살펴보았다.

꾹 참고 버텨오던 Windows 7 으로의 업데이트를 할지 말지 기로에 서게됐다.
아직은 베타 버전이고 덕분에 호환성 등 문제가 있지만 Microsoft가 전격적으로 일반 공개를 했고 새로운 걸 써보는 걸 워낙 좋아하는터라 -_-/ 결국 며칠의 고민 끝에 옮겨왔다.
헌데 그렇게 되면서 온라인 게임에선 아예 손을 떼야할 상황에 직면하고 말았다. 국내 온라인 게임의 상당수가 보안 프로그램으로 사용하고 있는 게임 가드 가 아직 Windows 7에서 제대로 작동하지 않아 아예 게임들이 실행이 되지 않는 것이다.

요즘 한창 이슈가 되고 있는 윈도우7을 뒤늦게(?) 깔아봤어요. (다운로드 링크는 여기 서) 두 개의 이미지에서 발견할 수 있는 차이가 무엇일까요? 좌측과 우측 이미지의 해상도는 똑같은데, 아이콘, 글꼴, 브라우저 안의 화면 등 확대 비율이 다릅니다. DPI 를 변경한 것인데요.  이런 기능을 OS와 웹브라우저에서 지원하고 사용자들이 저마다 다른 설정을 하게 되면 웹사이트와 소프트웨어 제작 방법도 지금과는 많이 달라질 것 같다는 생각이 듭니다. 비트맵 기반의 글꼴과 그래픽은 DPI 변경 시에 자연스럽게 표현하기 어렵기 때문이죠.

Today, my friend was asking, He lost Windows 7 animated boot screen after Startup Repair. Then he got old Vista style boot screen w/ progress bar. It happens most of time, you have to restore BCD or add Windows 7 entry in boot menu, I did it manully deletion of Windows 7 boot entry and got the same problem. After an hour, a trick has been discovered. It happens due to missing locale entry in boot entry.
