꼬알라가 Windows Vista에서 가장 반겼던 기술중에 하나가 향상된 Windows Search 기능이었습니다. 일을 하면서, 많은 제품 & 기술별로 전자 메일을 받기 때문에, 필요시 이를 검색해서, 빠르게 이용해야 하는 포인트는 매우 중요했죠. 전자 메일 뿐만 아니라, 오랜 기간동안 저장해놓은 문서와 세미나 발표 자료등을 검색하고 폴더에서 찾아내는 것을 빠르고 편하게 하는 것도 필요했습니다.

휴대폰은 이제 거의 모든 성인이 이용하는 물건이 되었고, 집에 디지털 카메라, 디지털 캠코더 장비 중에 하나씩은 있습니다. 하지만, 휴대폰, 카메라, 캠코더에 있는 사진이나 동영상을 옮기는 일을 편안한 작업으로 느끼는 분들이 많지는 않습니다. 소프트웨어를 설치하고, 장치를 PC에 연결하고, 장비가 인식이 되었는 지 확인하고, 원하는 애플리케이션이 어디에 있는 지를 찾고 하는 작업이 필요합니다. Windows 7은 장비와 PC 연결을 위해 Device Stage라는 것을 고안했습니다. 사용 방법은 단순합니다. Windows 7에 연결할 장비를 찾아 연결합니다. Nikon D90 인 경우는 아래와 같이 taskbar에 나타나고, 그 위에 마우스 포인트를 올리면 카메라 그림과 함께 배터리와 저장 공간 상태를 보여줍니다.

윈도우 클라이언트 개발자라면 윈도우7에 대한 SDK 소식이 반가울 것 입니다! 드디어 공식적으로 마이크로소프트 다운로드에서 Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1: BETA 이름으로 공개가 되었습니다. 파일 크기가 큽니다. ISO 파일로 약 1.3기가 정도 됩니다. 윈도우7 베타1을 설치했다면 SDK도 100% 설치를 해 보셔야 합니다!!

윈도우 7 베타를 설치하면 타이틀 바에 Send Feedback (피드백 보내기) 링크가 표시됩니다. 베타를 배포하는 이유가 피드백을 얻기 위한 것이니 필요한 링크이긴 하지만, 모든 타이틀 바에 표시되는 것이 조금 귀찮게 여겨 지기도 합니다.

윈도우7 공개 베타가 한국시간으로 오늘 새벽에 릴리즈되었다죠. 오늘 아침에 일어나서 네오윈 에서 발견하고 바로 64비트 버전을 받았습니다. 마소 서버 정말 빠르긴 빠르더군요. 최고 9800kb/s까지 나오더라고요. ㅎㄷㄷ

파일은 엄청나게 빨리 받았지만, 다른 사용자들과 마찬가지로 키를 발급하는 페이지에 접속이 안 되어서 제품 키는 받지 못했습니다.

저는 윈도우 7 베타를 깔아서 테스트하고 있습니다. 보통은 영문판 윈도우 7 베타를 테스트해야 정상인데, 대표적인 5개국어, 그 중에도 일본어판을 선택할 수가 있어서 그냥 평소때와 같이 일윈 깔아 쓰자고 생각하고 받았습니다. 받는 데 시간은 6시간 정도 걸렸군요. 제가 받은 것은 64비트 버전입니다.

Win 7 Tip: WordPad Opens Word 2007 Docs

Good news cheap people! Windows 7's WordPad (Microsoft's free bundled word processing doc) now supports Office 2007/2008's XML-based Word docs.

The upside is that if you're just typing up really simple things, you don't need to actually buy (or pirate) a copy of Office. The downside is that WordPad only has limited support for these types of docs, and will present you with a warning that it'll strip out some extra content only supported in Word if you re-save. So don't overwrite your co-worker's meticulously prepared presentation with your notes on how she should "spice up those sales figures with more caliente language."
